After being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2012 NFL Draft, Lavonte immediately solidified a starting position based on undeniable talent, his calm demeanor and a fervent work ethic. Lavonte quickly became a favorite among coaches, teammates and fans alike.
This Miami native is no stranger to standing out from the rest. After an impressive first contract with the Buccaneers, the organization offered Lavonte a 4 year contract extension to continue his run with the team. In his first four years Lavonte recorded 577 tackles, more than Bucs Hall of Famer, Derrick Brooks (515). His stats didn’t stop there and in 2016, Lavonte put on a show. With 147 tackles, Lavonte ranks in the top 3 NFL Linebackers in tackles, pass defended, interceptions and stuffs.
With a long list of athletic awards and accolades, ranging from All American honors to NFL All-Pro Honors and being named an NFL Defensive Team Caption in his rookie season, it is apparent to fans, coaches, teammates and the media that Lavonte David is destined for NFL Greatness.
While known for his power and dynamic football talents, off the field and you will find a kind, generous and warm-hearted guy underneath the red and black helmet. A family guy, Lavonte has his parents and siblings attend every home game for a short road trip to the Raymond James Stadium from Miami. But his family aren’t the only ones in Lavonte’s corner at home games – the "Lavonte Legends," a group of underprivileged children chosen from the local Tampa area, also get to enjoy Lavonte’s generosity. With a relentless passion for helping the less fortunate, Lavonte has engaged in the Bucs Care School Fitness Zone Program that relays the importance of health and fitness for kids and has taken multiple visits to the All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. His constant effort to give back to children lead Lavonte to look forward to developing his own foundation and give back to disadvantaged children. In 2015, Lavonte has started his own Back to School event in which he provided 300 students with Nike backpacks filled with school supplies. In 2016, he was named a BIG Champion by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America!
